Skill Level: Rookie-Apprentice-Virtuoso-Genius
Skills: knit, w+t, bind off
Sizes: one size
Finished Measurements: approx. 64" wide, 15" deep lying flat
Gauge: not crucial, 24 sts = 4" on 2.5 mm in st st as given on Bohoyarns ball band
Yarn: 200g, 840 yds (768 m) fingering weight sock yarn, 2 contrasting colours
Suggested Brand: 2 skeins Bohoyarns in “lux mundi”
Needles: 4 mm 32" circular needle
Other Materials: tapestry needle or teeny crochet hook
Beginning at inner edge, CO 350 sts with Colour A (darker colour) and backwards loop method.
Note: the number of sts isn’t crucial - don’t beat yourself up counting them all super accurately.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Knit to last 3 sts.
(Pat yourself on the back - the worst part is over.)
Attach Colour B.
Alternate colours every other row, bringing new colour over the top of the previous strand.
w+t: sl next st pwise, bring yarn to front, sl st back to left needle, turn work.
Row 3 (RS): Knit to last 3 sts, w+t.
Row 4: Knit to last 5 sts, w+t.
Row 5: Knit to 1 st before previous wrap, w+t.
Continue until 10 sts remain between wraps and WS is facing. Cut Colour A.
Next: Knit across all sts.
Note: Knit the wraps together with every other st for first half of row.
(Insert right needle into wrap and pick up; insert right needle into next st as per normal, knitting it together with the wrap; knit next st.)
Next: Work 5 rows in garter.
Note: Knit into wraps on first row (the half that was “skipped” previously) - I didn’t find this step necessary because there are no colour changes on this side.
Next: BO kwise on WS row loosely or with larger needles. Weave in ends.
